White Noise is a private jungle sanctuary, but the natural spaces surrounding the homes are shared. The Río Damitas, hiking trails, and mountain-top fire pit are available for guests and hosts to enjoy.
You may occasionally see or hear other guests exploring the property. Each home has its own private entrance and dedicated private spaces, allowing you to enjoy your stay with plenty of privacy.
Rural Costa Rica
White Noise is located in the small rural community of San Antonio de Damas, surrounded by rainforest and farmland.
You may occasionally hear everyday community sounds such as motorcycles, farm activity, vehicles, children playing, or daytime property maintenance. These sounds are part of the authentic rhythm of rural Costa Rican life and can vary from day to day.
If you’re looking for a polished resort environment where everything is controlled and predictable, White Noise may not be the right fit. If you’re looking to experience Costa Rica more naturally, that’s exactly what makes this place special.
Eco-Conscious Living
To protect the environment, we operate on sensitive septic system. Toilet paper is place in the provided bin rather than flushed.
As a rural jungle property, occasional power outages, heavy rains, or access delays may occur – especially during the green season. This is part of the natural rhythm of Costa Rica.
Community & Location
Located just 10-12 minutes from Route 34, the final stretch is a scenic dirt road leading into the rainforest, suitable for all vehicle types.
We are part of the small local community of Damas. Guests may occasionally hear everyday life — children playing, farm activity, vehicles, or local gatherings – adding to the authentic character of the area. We enjoy a generally peaceful setting, though you may occasionally hear routine neighborhood activity, such as property maintenance or other daytime work.

Yes. Your bungalow and dedicated outdoor spaces are completely private. The Río Damitas, hiking trails, and certain surrounding areas of the 50-acre sanctuary are shared by guests and hosts.
What is the river experience like?
The Río Damitas runs directly alongside the property and offers a beautiful place to cool off, relax, and experience the jungle. Water levels and conditions naturally change throughout the year, particularly during the rainy season.
What wildlife might we see?
White Noise is surrounded by tropical rainforest, so wildlife is part of the experience. You may see butterflies, toucans, monkeys, frogs, geckos, birds, and other tropical wildlife during your stay. Sightings are naturally unpredictable, which is part of the magic of staying in the jungle.
When is peak butterfly season at White Noise?
Butterflies can be seen throughout the year, with activity varying naturally by season and weather. The gardens and surrounding jungle provide habitat for a variety of species, including the beautiful Blue Morpho.
Is the fire-heated river tub easy to use?
Yes. The riverfront tub is heated using a wood fire and is designed as a relaxing soaking experience rather than a conventional electric hot tub. We provide the necessary firewood and starter supplies, and instructions are available to help you enjoy it safely. For a completely hands-off experience, a paid fire-tub lighting service is also available.
Is Butterfly Bungalow like staying in a hotel?
Not quite—and that’s intentional. Butterfly Bungalow is a private jungle home within a nature sanctuary. You have your own space and privacy, while the surrounding property remains connected to nature rather than operating like a traditional resort.
Will we hear nature or surrounding activity?
Yes. You are staying in a living rainforest and a small rural community. You may hear birds, monkeys, insects, the river, rain, and occasional sounds from the surrounding community or other guests. These natural and everyday sounds are part of the experience.
Do we need a car for our stay?
A vehicle is recommended for exploring the area and reaching nearby beaches, Manuel Antonio, restaurants, and other attractions. The property is approximately 10–12 minutes from Route 34, with the final portion along a scenic rural dirt road suitable for regular vehicles.
Is White Noise a secure property?
White Noise is a private, owner-operated property, and each residence has its own private entrance and dedicated outdoor space. We live on the property and are available if needed while respecting your privacy.
Can we book spa experiences during our stay?
Absolutely. Guests can add experiences at Soulo Bath House, our riverside wellness space at White Noise. We recommend arranging experiences in advance when possible.
